"Ha! It's data app's focused like a laser."
dd and MikeD- It sure is. And that's my point, sort of. A lot of apps have to be written for the newly developing, multiple mobile wireless standards. All to connect to users eyeballs via a similar interface you linked to. so why not just go with the hundreds of thousands of existing apps and display them over a narrow pipe via the ICA model on a high-res small screen.
Right now you can access the Citrix server in Ft. Lauderdale, and access full-blown Powerpoint, Excel, Word, etc.. over a 28.8 dialup and it works fairly well. As a matter of fact, a Citrix solution provider on this thread, uses a mobile phone to dial into LANs. I forgot who it is now.
Anyway combine this accessibility with that little palm computer, the Sharp Mobilon (Which was about the size of a Qualcomm digital phone). Which has a keyboard on it you could actually type on, and it seems like a potent mobile wireless solution that's here and now.
The display was out of this world and could indeed be used to access full blown Excel Spreadsheets. I'm not saying it's something you would want to use continuously. But while debating whether or not to buy one, I used it for an hour or so. I was pretty amazed at how nice it worked for being not much bigger than a cell phone.
Well gee. While searching around for a comparable product to the Sharp Mobilon, look what I ran across: enterprise.psion.com ...If CTXS is teaming up with Psion, maybe they are headed in the same direction I'm speculating on. -MikeM(From Florida) |
