Randy,
Like I said...the big boys are closing in on MP3.
>Sony Music Entertainment, a division of Japan's Sony Corp., said
it would allow Internet users to download over 50 songs from its
music catalogue (which includes songs of, among others, Mariah
Carey, Bob Dylan, Lauryn Hill and Pearl Jam) beginning later
this month. Sony is acting in conjunction with Alliance
Entertainment, Hastings Entertainment (Nasdaq:HAST) and Tower
Records, which will provide the online retail distribution
channel for the initiative. Sony's announcement comes just days
after BMG Entertainment, a subsidiary of Germany's Bertelsmann
AG whose artists include Santana and the Backstreet Boys, said
that it had formed an alliance with Liquid Audio (Nasdaq:LQID)
to sell digital music downloads.
