BGR,
Life is tough, they should make more money. Better yet why don't you give them some. The deduction came about to encourage home ownership. The spin offs are very profitable for the govt., lenders, construction cos. and numerous others. Renters also have the advantage of not being tied to a property or being responsible for maint.,etc. They also don't get the equity appreciation but then again they don't get to buy for $300,000.00 and watch the value drop to $250,000.00. Like stocks homes don't always go up or stay up. As many will be learning in the not to distant future.
