We can't assume that Intel will continue committing one blunder after another. Intel always has an option to throw money at a problem. In this case, they can throw a lot of money into accelerated conversion to .13u. There was even a news about Intel increasing investment by 40% over prior year to 7 billion per year.

If Willy has trouble getting out the door, you can be sure that Intel has a die shrink for .13u Coppermine ready. Cascades is supposed to be released in Q2, and if Intel is desperate, and has .13u process up and running, they can move to Cascades-like processor for the desktop. A Piii with say 512K of on-die L2 would be more competitive with Thunderbird.
