>>>> Had an interesting conversation with Pat last evening...He brought up the recent announcement of DELL making $2billion on a $700m investment with various companies...At what point do you think that the street will begin to factor this into the actual net worth of DELL?>>>

IMO Institutional holders and analysts should be aware of that those investments with the effect taking place already- since they do not appear to be selling Dell after the meeting despite major NAS tankings. ( below this post I see Dell down 1/8)
$2 bil? Yes, TM still has the old magic with $. Remember 1998- more than $1 bil profit on options that showed up merely in more treasury shares at reduced prices, permitting
future splits at less cost to the co.

>>>>What he was suggesting is that virtually every financial institute in the world takes people's money and invests it>>>
Part of the present NAS problem stems from a statement
a week ago that new tech stocks are "running out of money" OF COURSE they are running out of money, why does the stock market EXIST except to provide money. If companies don't need money they don't need us and don't need to sell stock.
It would also imply that "real companies" don't need
money- which is a crock. Look at CCE (Coke), being so successful, they now owe 8 times what they are worth (G). Check out how many Bil. Ford owes. A company isn't rated very highly until they owe lots of money which makes bankers very, very happy.
>>>>What bank has gotten DELL's rate of return to date? We were assuming that the new DELLVENTURES with Tom Meredith may perhaps continue to make billions quarter after
quarter....As we all know their ROIC under Tom has already written a record of envy....Why should we not believe
he will continue with all the new investments? >>>>
Tom will love that job......(G)
Summary: Can't say when it affects the top line of Dell, people are ignoring details in this present panic and sector rotation.
But it should keep the minimum stock price up.
