dbf, I have quite a few shares of tech stocks I would LOVE to sell covered calls against, but I've held the stock for a long time and don't want to get it called away and pay the taxes, and also don't want to buy back calls I sold (on stocks I like) for a loss. In an IRA it's not an issue. And you are probably right about the closing premium, I never thought of that. John
