I think the point that marv was trying to make was in this part of the post:

"Intel and a few others are in a unique position re-VC. They know more than most re- the probabilities of success, can supply the capital, technical assistance and the possibility
of being a customer."

Intel's support for a company can go beyond capital. With their influence in the industry, their promotion of a new technology can at the least make it viable and at best make it a standard. In any case it adds value to the company they invested in, a nice value loop. I don't think Kleiner Perkins, Benchmark, or Vulcan have this type of influence.

Do I misunderstand your posts, or are you against the Intel Capital concept?
