a. Unfortunately I think Paul is 100% right. However, I think he is concentrating on the negatives. Here are some positive signs that I see:

b. there are signs that NOVL is finally turning the corner and FASTER than we give them credit here. While it took them many years to get to 5.1 and the Internet they have come up with a series of new products and technologies for the INternet that are top notch.

c. The marketing debacle is finally being addressed. THis has been an endemic problem for NOVL and one that is not going to go away soon but IMHO it is being addressed big time now. Moreover, I see a pattern that I really like here: NOVL is partnering with leaders in the industry. This can be seen from their partnering with AOL licensing instant messaging, with the OEMS to license ICS caching technology, and more recently today with CMGI and SUNW..

Here are things that I would like to see:

0. Intensify the partnerships with industry leaders.

1. I think it is very important to change the corporate culture at NOVL. As EPS said to maximize shareholder value should be right there at the top of the priorities for the company.

2. Make management accountable. Management seems insulated from the pain. It is discouraging, for example, to see that Mr Stewart, the new zar, has no NOVL holdings as of today.
A company that pays no dividends is expected to grow, NOVLs performance for the last decade is........awful.

3. Make this company GROW. Take risks. Use the positive cash flow to acquire companies and technologies at a much faster pace than in the last few years.

Finally for this board I have this to say. I have read good posts here, however I do not think that this board should be used to fight out internal NOVL politics. I have seen one post too many trying to see who gets credit for what at NOVL ..this level of minutiae is useless for an investor. What we should care apart from the technological issues and news are EARNINGS, REVENUES, PARTNERSHIPS and so on and on.
