How can there NOT be any harm to the market and ultimately the consumer if a firm uses its monopoly power in one market to create additional monopolies in other markets?

Would you care to elaborate on how Microsoft has harmed the consumer. Do we pay a higher price for their products than we would have ? Are fewer people able to tap the resources of the "PC world" because of lack of competition ? Are we forced to accept inferior products ? Has the world been technologically "stifled" because of Microsoft's mighty grip ?

Don't fool yourself, my friend... it's all about politics and money... a conglomeration of big companies, with big wallets that finance the campaigns of any number of public office holders... companies that were unable to execute with the efficiency of MSFT, but financially able to force the hands of the various AG's and the DOJ, to adjudicate their success.

On another note, Judge Jackson made one particularly fatal mistake. He included rulings which have already been overturned in the appeals court. I'm thinking that, because of this inclusion, the Court of Appeals might overturn the whole ruling. On this point, I am guessing... on the question of harm to the consumer, I have no doubt that, if anything, MSFT has facilitated and hastened the penetration of the PC into the lives of millions of people. They continually raised the "bar" of competition, and forced other companies to push the edge of the competitive envelope.

No... I'm not a MSFT employee.
