After reading the Thompson's blurb, I interpreted the Gemstar statement to mean that they've sold 2 million units to-date, not in the 1st quarter. (I wish!)

If this assessment is correct, then the 1st quarter results were 500k; not too shabby in any case, but still pre-tornado to my way of thinking.
