I just found this message forum, to great relief. I too am a very disgruntled AD customer. I knew I wasn't alone! I can sympathize with the problems (regulations) that are beyond Canadian discount brokers' control, but there are way too many things wrong that are within their purview.

Just in the last week, I have been charged $330 for a $29 commission ("entry error"), and a relative's account was closed apparently accidentally, rendering all transactions impossible.

I've opened an account with ETrade Canada. I don't know if it's any better in terms of trade executions - my very first order filled immediately, leading me to believe it was faster. Since then, there has been some delay, but nothing like Action Direct. At least it's a change; plus, they have incentives which I never received from Action Defect. I have had it with AD (and to a lesser extent with their parent).
