is this necessarily a good thing? increasing the number of shares means that it will be easier to buy them and that the supply of shares will more easily fit demand (assuming that demand picks up from where it is right now). while this may smooth out downside volatility will it not also smooth out upside volatility as well?

i am playing devil's advocate, but we're all so punch drunk after the last month or so that before we get excited about the split we ought to think about it. jmho
