London, April 12 (Bloomberg) By Brian Gorman -- The following London commodity markets are active today:

Crude oil for May settlement (COA CT ) rose as
much as 66 cents, or 3.1 percent, to $22.33 a barrel on the
International Petroleum Exchange. A drop in prices of more than 15
percent this year through yesterday encouraged refiners and
speculators to buy oil, traders said. Crude oil for May delivery
on the New York Mercantile Exchange rose 36 cents to $24.50 a
barrel in electronic trading. (News: NI OIL)

Natural gas for May delivery (FNA ) in the U.K. rose
as much as 0.07 pence, or 0.5 percent, to 15.50 pence (24.56
cents) a therm on the International Petroleum Exchange, its
highest level since December 1998, as cold weather in the U.K.
boosted demand for the fuel. (News: NI GAS)
