Scumbria,

Let's see what happens when Athlon gets an onboard L2 and DDR.

I prefer not to wait <G>. I like seeing the great benchmark reports now and having them published in the leading pubs.

I know you don't believe RDRAM is of any use on the motherboard, and in some senses you may be right. But one of the things we discussed on the board last year was that the average buyer doesn't really care if it's RDRAM or SDRAM, or how fast the hard drive spins, or how big cache is. What they're buying is a complete package, a system. And what we needed to see were benchmarks of one system against another. Well, those are coming in and the RDRAM-based systems are looking darn good. Carl and Ali haven't responded to that yet, and obviously can't, since the average user buys a pre-configured system from Dell, Compaq, HP, etc. and these benchmarks are going to lead the power users to RDRAM systems right now. And that will help drive the cost of RDRAM down. Which we need desperately! <G>
