Being a "European", I think you better not idealize our society

Bert,

I don't think I idolize the European culture but I do see aspects that are better and would like to see them incorporated here. I think you would have to live and experience the senseless slaughter that goes on in many of our cities week after week, or worse, to wake up and find that 10 kids are dead because another kid with a gun went haywire before you would fully understand. Compared to that, a traffic accident is a non event. It has made many of our cities virtual ghost towns where people are afraid to go out at night. There is a very real cost both dollarwise and emotionally that we pay to maintain a "Wild West" mentality. We are no longer this backwater, frontier country and I wish that we would act accordingly.

BTW you never answered me...comme est Le Pissior en Le Bruxelle? I am sorry that my French is brutal and I hope its French that you speak and not Flemish. When I was in Bruxelle, the pissoir was the first thing I saw and continued to see as I traveled thru the country side. I really got off on it, much to the annoyance of my Swiss friends at the time.
