COF, CBC moving to day's highs. AMD..I'm pretty optimistic.. I'm two for two on holding through earnings and the gains in ADTN were offset by the loss in RIMM on 200 shares (which I did say would only be a daytrade but I got tempted.). But I'm starting to short the gap up and wait for any gap down to reverse so I'm 'diversifying' my strategy. I also am getting some 'old economy' stocks especially some of the 'earnings plays'. BOL was good and GDT is moving to day's highs. As for holding through earnings, I don't really need to do it. Its speculative, and even if AMD gaps up it will be sold off IMHO.. so either I get some call options and be ready in the morning to short the stock, which is probably what I'll do. AMD is actually trading at 49% discount compared to the rest of the semis and KLAC is trading at a 36% premium which isn't too bad but I prefer AMD. I like it since it sold off. I'm just very skeptical, like Scrumpy said, its more of a psychological evaluation of the individual investor, the capriciousness of the analyst than the actual performance of the stock that wins in the 'short run'.
