Well, today I hear MSFT is responsible for the fall. MSFT downgraded because of earnings. Both MST and MO have problems and have had problems for quite awhile. Most people know that.
Yet, other tech companies have good earnings. For instance, CHKP had great earnings:
Check Point Profits Jump 77 Percent

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Internet security company Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (NasdaqNM:CHKP - news) on Wednesday reported a better-than-expected 77 percent rise in first-quarter profits, fueled by heightened demand for Web security programs following several high-profile hacker attacks duringn the quarter.
The Israeli firm, whose major U.S. operations are based in Redwood City, Calif., said its net income for the quarter rose to $34.9 million, or 40 cents per share, from $19.7 million, or 24 cents, a year earlier.
Wall Street analysts had expected a profit of 35 cents per share, according to research firm First Call/Thomson Financial."

MSFT and MOT's problems do not surprise me. On the other hand, I expected good earnings from CHKP, and I expect good earnings from SUNW.
The financial news and the analysts focus on companies with problems. As the earnings season unfolds, let's hope news reports will focus on companies good earnings
