1) SUNW monopolizing SPARC and charging more - because comparable NT workstation sucks. People are WILLING to spend more for the power. Those who are not, are switching to Mac G4 systems. No anti-competitive here. Simple case of pay for what you get and people are not willing to pay for the MSFT no matter how cheap.

2) AOL and IM - Litigation on Microsoft stopped them from piggybacking off of AOL's IM server. MSFT can create all the IM software they want. No one is stopping them. When they steal the service and make AOL pay for the server traffic and maintenance that is involved, that is illegal. So they stopped doing it. People just did not want the MSFT IM software going through Microsoftnet because again, it sucked. Another example of MSFT trying to stomp the competition and getting burned by the legal system. That is why AOL has 80 percent of the market.

Personally, IM is cute, but it's a security violation. It pokes holes in the network firewall. As a network manager, I squash that whenever I get the chance.
