thanks, richard, for the help. too bad about the compilation thread getting axed.

couple of notes: everywhere i look i am seeing a terrible drift down, seemingly inexorable. so, i got out this am and into cash, still up 42% ytd, but have been losing ~12%/wk for a month. will need the money later. my final impetus was comments by gary smith at tsc. he has been my intro to ta, and i like his straightforward presentations quite a lot. his advice to invoke some discipline seemed timely.

as i said, got my first ta book, but the prices for new books were very high. cheap is $30, paperbacks even, and it just goes up and up from there. looked at one of the early posts on this thread and got a couple of the recommended-for-beginners books, the pring book on ta and the aschelis (sp?) book, ta a-z, for under $25 ea at <<www.abebooks.com>>. a really great site for used and oop books. have bought thru them many times and never been disappointed. look thru all the listings when you shop as the prices vary a great deal with different stores.
