I single out Canada because they were in charge of the investigation. They screwed it up royally. Were there any charges laid against ANYBODY in that scandal? I bet the US would have made somebody pay. After that incident I realized that Canada is no better than a third world country where you would normally expect this kind of scam to be commonplace. That scam cost Canadians and other investors in the world $6B and not ONE person involved with the exchanges or the brokerage industry paid the price for it ... the brokers pumped it pretty good if you recall. Please don't tell me the gold experts didn't have a clue either. I say Canada has a lot of explaining to do. I am a Canadian but I'm not going to pretend that the biggest mining scam in history didn't happen here and all the crooks got away with it.

I never lost money in Bre-X because I never played it but just think of all the little old ladies who lost their life savings because their broker recommended they buy this wonderful little Canadian company called Bre-X. What the hell kind of due diligence did these broker do?

Anyway we are going off topic but I had to comment because somebody suggested that Bre-X could not happen again. It most certainly can happen again and probably will someday.
