Altern, I just watched Shakespeare in Love last night for the first time (great movie!).....like Rande I've been catching up on movies I have missed, and I'm way behind....so forgive the analogy.

I'm thinking that this market can be compared to a relationship, like being in love and falling out of love. In the fall, and through February investors loved their stocks--- would have done anything for them, forgiven them anything-- extraordinarily high PE's didn't matter as investors were convinced that they had made the best match with the right stock that would last forever.

Now investors are going through the bitter part of the relationship when they realized that nothing lasts forever and that their beloved stocks are not what they thought they were. This is a painful process but must be endured as a cleansing that permits one to enter new relationships. Many rationalizations are made at this point.....if I loved it at this price I should really love it at this much lower price. Why can't anyone else see what I saw in this most wonderful stock?

Now this analogy is a broad reflection on what I see going on in the market at a general level. Most of those who participate here have taken emotion out of their decisions, as it clouds the ability to make clear judgements. But there are many in the market who are feeling the pain of marrying their tech stocks, and this divorcing process is still being worked out. It's always best to stand aside when the waters are murky. There's other plays we can make with clearer outcomes. Rande has outlined many throughout the past two months to keep us from getting caught up in this messy falling out.

I think I'll be spending more time watching movies too and waiting, because the heart is a resilient organ and learns to love again in time.
