I've placed probably 20 to 30 trading inquiries over the last few years w/etrade... not alot considering we do thousands of trades a year with them... but ONLY one was approved.. all the rest:

"your order was a good fill... volatile market conditions"

so I dont bother with inquiries anymore.. it's just a game etrade plays to make you think they are fighting for you..
the last guy I talked to was supposed to call me back the next day.. i left him 4 messages.. he never called back.. i talked to 2 other reps and they promised to have that guy or someone else call me about my inquiry.. they never called me either.. i spoke with each of them again.. they both promised to escalate and have someone call me.. never happened... finally i left one of them a message saying "I give up. I guess I'll just forget about my inquiry and assume you guys aren't capable of helping me"... I guess they took that as a sign of freedom.. because they never called me back again on the subject.. and I was extremely pleasant the entire time.. I've learned you dont get as much with etrade if you get mad... if you're nice they usually will work better with you.. but that's only if they want to and actually decide to return your calls.

seriously.. i could write a book about etrade's problems.. and the market would eat it up... with as many trades as we do i could tell you horror stories you wouldn't believe.. from lost applications .. to lost money.. to gaining access to other people's accounts (yes etrade gave me someone else's passwords and that family had 10 times the money i do).. to unfilled orders.. to orders being cancelled and a week later getting filled.. to server outages to unreturned phone calls... it's fun
