Enerdyne Technologies Inc. and the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division Sign Cooperative Research and Development Agreement
Missile Program has Immediate Need for an Ultra-Miniaturized Video Encoder That Follows the IRIG210 Standard
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 13, 2000-- Enerdyne Technologies Inc., a subsidiary of Advanced Remote Communication Solutions (ARCOMS) (OTCBB:BTRK - news) and a leader in digital-video compression systems, Thursday announced that it has signed a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement with the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) at China Lake.
The NAWCWD program, called Spike, has an immediate need for an ultra-miniaturized encoder that follows the IRIG210 standard.
Under this agreement, the NAWCWD will further miniaturize the current production of Enerdyne's 4-cubic inch video encoder hardware using the Multi-Chip Module (MCM) technique. The video encoder is being developed to fit inside the United States Navy's 1.5-inch (diameter) optically guided missile. Enerdyne will provide the NAWCWD with the design for their current single chip IRIG210 solution including schematics and Programmable Logic Devices (PLD) program files. The schematics and PLD program files are the exclusive intellectual property of Enerdyne Technologies Inc.
A United States Army program called Hardened Subminiature Telemetry and Sensor System (HSTSS) will provide the funding to the NAWCWD to design the packaging under this agreement. The agreement will allow the Navy to develop an encoder that will meet the immediate needs of Spike, and Enerdyne's new product will be capable of supporting small missiles and projectile programs.
``This is a great opportunity for Enerdyne to further refine and enhance its existing technologies in order to provide advanced applications in remote communications,' said Nancy Ziter, vice president of business development and operations at Enerdyne Technologies Inc. ``We look forward to additional collaborative opportunities with the United States Army and United States Navy.'
