This is the best part for me. Combining the injector and spark plug is huge. Three reasons: Best results are with the injector in the center of the combustion chamber. In todays DOHC 4-valve designs, that position is generally already taken by the spark plug. Problem solved. In a 4 valve combustion chamber, there really isn't much room left with 4 valves and a plug already there. Problem solved. Head design. Redesign all the cylinder heads to accomodate a new resident (the injector)? No, just stick the injector where the plug was, avoiding a lot of the head redesign. Problem resolved. This also allows the motor to come to market sooner. This is great news. And Delphi is disappearing as a competitor....
