George, it is up to every thinking adult to recognize that there is no free lunch in life. however, the WS and government propaganda machinery has to shoulder some of the responsibility. it is one thing to drill 'buy and hold' into peoples minds, and quite another to not tell them that the strategy has in the past at times been a complete disaster. Arthur Levitt was one of the few who came out with a warning after it became apparent by how much margin debt had exploded and was basically laughed off. oh well... regards, hb
