DH - Lordy are folks getting negative. I don't know why. I own part of this great company and everything is going as planned (if not better). What's the problem?

Well its sort of like this...

1. The NAZ has been down almost every sinle day for about three weeks or so it seems.

2. The drop is now just about the biggest in a market since the 1920's.

3. There appears to be no end in sight.

4. Even undoubtedly the best tech companies like SUNW who come out with stunning results, the best in years, have their stock prices hammered and drop despite the greatest earnings in years.

5. Mr Greenspan and his side-kick Mr Mayer keep saying things that seem to many people really bad news for the market. Mr Grrenspan constantly croaks on about how is going to do something about the wealth effect when the market goes up but when it crashes he doesn't leave off but goes on now to talk about house prices. Who knows what next maybe stamp collections or baseball cards.

6. A hitherto unknown lawyer who works in the bowels of a large non-desfript office building somehwere in Washington has by some misfortune of chance been given some files to look at concerning the possible contravention of ancient monopoly laws by a company that is just about the centre of the worlds technology revolution of the last few years and if it isn't destroyed the next few years.

This man, a Mr Klein, seems to want to do something very unpleasant to the company, Microsoft and didn't flinch from that even under tough questioning on the Hill earlier this week. Anyway in the meantime MSFT is as we sit this evening at about $79.

7. Mrs Cohen said that she reccommended reducing stocks by 10% in portfolios about a couple of weeks ago. I think she probably meant reduce stocks TO 10% of portfolios not BY 10%.

8. A bunch of other bright sparks from the houses have come out this week and said that its all over for tech stocks or soemthing similar.

9 IPOs are being cancelled left right and center.

10. There are imbalances in the US.

11. There is terrible news about the economy...it is growing at 5% and although there is no inflation and productivity is in increasing there are imbalances that threaten the economy and Kathleen Hayes ( who so far as I can remember for the last year has been warning that inflation was coming) says that certain costs are increasing or might increase and that can cause inflation to suddenly creep up on us and destroy us and THAT is what the Fed is worried about. But there are imbalances.

12. Even I am worried about imbalances I am frightened that they might creep up on me in the middle of the night and I'll get a bout of inflation.

13. Lastly WHERE IS JOE BATAPAGLIA????

Best regards,

L
