Kash, A lot of folks sell deep out of the money puts and just pocket the premiums... I like covered calls as they provide downside protection. And I like to trade the calls and take advantage of market volatility. Covered calls don't provide downside protection. Just the opposite. Covered call is equivalent to naked put (with addition of interest on the money that you didn't have to spend to acquire the long stock position). Joe
