Novell Finds A Taker For Its Digitalme Service

Novell landed the first taker for its Digitalme identity service, which aims to grease e-business by organizing buyers' multiplying passwords.

Toronto's Tucows.com, an independent software distributor with roughly 10 million customers, said on Wednesday that it will use Digitalme to enhance the Internet experience of its
customers. Tucows CEO Elliot Noss said he was attracted to Novell's (stock: NOVL) Digitalme's streamlined purchasing and privacy-protection functions.

Announced in October, Digitalme stores all of a user's log-ons, passwords, account numbers, and contact information within Novell Directory Services' eDirectory, doling them out automatically as needed. This will save end users the hassle of having to remember the passwords that accrue like barnacles on a ship as they do business online. End users retain complete control of the data stored using Digitalme.

Digitalme services should be rolled out to Tucows customers by the end of June for no additional cost.
