You are still mixing apples and oranges Rod. It matters not which operating system is being used as a platform, but what B2B software applications are being used on TOP of that operating system. If these companies who are setting up these exchanges were so sold on "freeware" solutions for B2B, don't you think RHAT, or any number of other companies would have jumped on the B2B wagon? As you stated yourself, it is the database that holds the key. And a database is not an operating system, but an application. So no matter how much you continue to expound the merits of the Linux OSP, it does not provide the software that permits B2B. And one more point about OSP. Currently we are seeing some real tension forming between the various linux service providers like RedHat and VA Linux as they are trying to modify Linux to be unique in some respects to a competing version of Linux. And the open source project will have a tough time keeping a single approved standard version of Linux as each company that provides Linux solutions modifies and changes the O/S, possibly in ways that prevent different versions from interfacting properly. I wish you would focus on the issue at hand instead of using this thread as a bully pulpit for expounding the yet to be seen merits of Linux. It doesn't matter Rod... It just doesn't matter. If clients/customers want Linux, then they can port their application to Linux like it is rumoured even MSFT is doing with MSOffice. But until Linux and Apache can provide the same purchasing/selling, or payment solutions as CMRC's Buysite 6.0 Enterprise edition, then leave the "freeware" argument where it belongs... on another thread. commerceone.com Regards, Ron
