Mark, This is WAAAAYYYYY off topic... I was listening to Paul Harvey on the radio the other day and he read this little ditty... The Alaskan park service has printed a flyer for hikers in the Alaskan parks. It reminds them to be aware that the park is the home to Black bear and Grizzly bear. It is recommended to make some sort of noise as you hike so as not to surprise the bears and minimize the chance of attack. Wearing small bells is a suggestion and carrying pepper spray is recommended just in case. Additionally, they give helpful hints at learning to identify black bear and grizzly by keeping a watch out for bear droppings. Black bear droppings are smaller in size and usually contain berries and have a woody kind of smell to them. Grizzly droppings tend to be larger... and contain... small bells.... and smell like... pepper! Good day! Tom F.
