This is a great overview of flash memory from the Microsoft website written by a guy at Kingston...

I hope that SanDisk marketing is able to capitalize on the Microsoft Pocket PC announcement which is coming up next week. It would be great to see some 64MB SanDisk CF cards sold either as a bundled item or as a promotion underwritten by Microsoft. I would tack on the Pocket PC logo on the front, pre-load some cool MP3's, high resolution photos from the SI bathing suit edition, a VH-1 video or two, a trailer for Matrix II, a snippet from a Tiger Woods instructional golf video or a free copy of "Riding the Bullet" on the card. I would either put some SanDisk literature in the box or get the logo visibly on the back or embossed on the side of the card with the finger grip. Or maybe this would be a good opportunity to consider getting the plastic CF clamshell cases into production with a SanDisk logo on it.

All the consumer would need to do is plug the card into a new Pocket PC device and they are off to the races.

It is exciting just considering the possibilities. It would really put SanDisk on the map and leverage the muscle that Microsoft has. Based on the money Microsoft spent on promoting Windows CE last year I would say it is a safe bet that SanDisk could get Bill Gates to foot a good portion of the promotion or SanDisk could get a fee for the advertising content on card.
