I agree with you. I'm not a huge fan of growth through acquisition. I'd much rather see growth through innovation which Intel has proven to be one of the best at during its lifetime. Although Intel isn't know for acquisitions as much as say a Cisco Systems is, Intel does often take very large positions in companies that they do business with. One company that comes to mind is PRI Automation which i believe Intel has a 5% stake in. They are the company who makes the monorail systems to carry the wafers throughout the fabs. I think this is a better way of participating in other companies prospects rather than completely buying out a company and hoping that there are synergies.
