Well, the whole campaign against Terayon was very well organized to be attributed just to unorganized short sellers. Note, that everything started from a letter that CableLabs leaked. You also need an influential person to get an article published in Fortune. We know they had a conflict with CableLabs because they did not want to license their technology royalty free. I therefore think that somebody very influential with access to the innermost circles of CableLabs is behind the organized campaign against Terayon.
Now, their technology allows cable companies to start cable internet without any upgrades of the base stations. If a cable company deploys TDMA, it needs to spend huge sums to upgrade the base stations to reduce noise. With CDMA , you can just get started immediately. That is why cable companies would buy Terayons products even if they don't become a standard. That the stakes are huge, could be seen from the fact that AT&T spent 100bil to acquire cable companies, and all that would go to waste if the noise problem is not overcome. And Terayon does overcome it.
Don't you think that many companies would be desire to appropriate Terayon's technology?
