Sunspot, publicity is bad. However, this should be seen for what it is. The work of idiot programmers who think that sun rises and sets in their butt. On a realistic note, this is just a bug and can be fixed very easily without causing any harm. The marketing team will have their job cut out for them though with this kind of publicity.

One of the bad effects of the justice dept case is that Microsoft will now be criticized even for innovating. That's a shame. Yesterday, I heard a researcher from MIT complaining that his Kerberos security architecture has been extended by Microsoft to enable its programs to work better with their servers. Now, if every company has to wait for a "standards body" to accept the proposals, the technology industry would have reached a sorry state. It is a fact that "standards bodies" are routinely used by companies to slow down innovation. All of Sun, Microsoft and IBM would attest to that...
