VERTIGO OT> Don't say the word 'dizzy', Sting. I slept with a fan and the window open the other night. . .and contracted an inner ear virus or sinus of sorts, which has given me vertigo. Couldn't even watch movies. . . the action would set me off. . .

I do a physical procedure to keep it under control, which is quite effective. . .and beats the Meclizine, which makes me too drowsy to work effectively. Sudafed helps.

For those interested. . .

An inner ear virus or pressure creates false readings of balance. The inner ear liquids race around to try to re-balance things. . but in doing so, they cause the severe [even violent] dizziness.

But this procedure essentially tricks the brain. The confusion in the inner ear is overruled by the conscious mind. So by doing this simple excercise of trying to purposefully make yourself dizzy by moving your head from side to side, the messages sent by the inner ear to the brain take a backseat to the ones by the conscious mind. . . and the inner ear stops trying to correct things. . . .

So caution to those that run fans at night. . . or ride motorcycles or boats. . . cold damp air passing over the ears often cause this condition. And if you merely take the drug, you can find yourself in bed for up to a week.

Personally, I can't afford to be sick.
