JDN, SUNW astonished? I wouldn't quite go that far. Excellent quarter, I would say, maybe outstanding. With Sun's valuation, they are expected to produce like that, though. Coming off a 100:1 P/E you know, and not going to 60 trailing like the guy on SUNW thread almost got away with.

Did they talk about Ultrasparc III delays? When Intel announced a Merced delay in 1998, the stock got killed for a while. Sun seems to be impervious to any stock hits due to product delays.

With Sun's current products they are five time worse than the leader in price/performance, expressed in terms of price per transactions per minute, below URL. I know Sun primarily sells solutions and RAS, but that price/perf. is getting very uncompetitive, no matter how great their marketing is. Also, their RAS is really no better than other machines which are equipped with appropriate features like ECC, hot swappable hardware, clusters, etc.

I know I've harped on Sun in the past on the Intel thread, to your annoyance. I guess I did it again, but this is, after all, the EMC thread.
