Steven, Just a quick comment. The fact that there is no state income tax provides all workers more spendable income with which to buy their own health insurance, if they so desire. The comment about the Hispanic population is not pertinent because many of them are illegal aliens who wouldn't, or shouldn't, qualify in the first place. That is another problem all together from any health care concerns. It is true that Bush is against the push for extensive government control of the health care situation because of the considerable waste generated by any program controlled by the federal government. You can blame that on the lazy, leeches of the bureaucratic government work force. He has his own plan for health insurance that gives more control to the individual and limits government participation in control. I personally am in favor of less, and less, federal government in our lives.
I am also, quite, familiar with the county health care systems at work in Texas and have been witness to excellent care given to the indigent at little, or in many cases, no cost to them. Unfortunately, we have a large segment of our population that could, but will not, protect themselves in the case of medical emergencies. What do you want to do? Force them to accept a government dole? Remember, any government that can give you everything you want, can, and will, take everything you have. ~H~ |
