Slider, just when people were starting to forget your unsavoury past, and actually consider you an upstanding member of the human race, you had to burst that bubble.
The investors who are hurting today are no different than the investors who were hurt in the OSX's meltdown in '98: they're individuals who were trying to get a bit ahead.
They didn't cause the money to be drawn away from you or your stocks, they were investing - based on momentum, some sort of fundamentals, or "proffessional advice". Many of them may have spent some time investing in the 'patch; many may even have worked at some time there.
You didn't lose your oilpatch job, simply because you never worked there. You started investing in this sector in '97 or '98, and have since spent a commendable amount of time and energy learning about it's fundamentals. Well, many investors have followed a similar path, but happened to land, for a variety of reasons, in a different sector. Is the fact that they have been enjoying some added bit of success in recent times reason enough for you to show glee at their downfall?
Respect others pain, or it will be sure to visit you soon enough!
