More sophisticated users do beam stuff between Palms...
John Liu asked "Does anyone know what percent of palm users actually exchange information via the palm?"
I've seen this in action. I've beamed my "business card" info any number of times. And my wife and I regularly beam appointments and contact info between our two devices.
But I've also seen my wife, who is a Food Editor, beam information between herself and a PR agent for a restaurant. Usually just address info, or the date/time of an appointment, but sometimes text info. And at least once, some recipes, which the publicist brought along on Palm knowing that she could beam them to my wife (true, she had a floppy disk, too).
And not that long ago, I was at a conference where I was offered the chance to have the conference schedule beamed to me as a memo file. I was glad to accept it.
This stuff is real, and is happening more and more. Oh yeah... somebody gave me a shareware game, too. You can't do this between Palm and WinCE, though. And, I haven't seen much talk about even doing it between WinCE machines... do they support that kind of transfer? It probably doesn't matter, since there aren't enough of them for two users to ever meet!
((This doesn't make the market go up... but it can't hurt.))
