John, >When Intel was in the 140's, I posted that I thought Intel had gotten ahead of itself. After today, I would say it's gotten well behind itself.

I've always had a problem with how something can get ahead of itself, and now I have to deal with it getting behind itself? <g>

Itanium systems, including multiprocessor ones, live, take power, have fans that turn, boot, run operating systems, the whole thing. I wonder what Intel will have to say about them on Tuesday.

I ran across the following chart on price/performance ratings of various servers, don't know if it made it in here before. The Intel based Compaq ones are best by far, in price/performance. Actually the particular models will start shipping 8/1. Sun continues to do magic (or snow the crap out of customers) hawking theirs.
