Mike, Thanks! - Lotsa "food for thought" there, which will be pondered over the weekend.

I suspect I was approaching the valuation issue from a different perspective than yours :

- I was thinking along the lines of "if i have identified a specific gorilla to buy into, why do i care about todays valuation"

- your comments indicate "if evaluating a choice amongst multiple gorillas, valuation has a role to play in the evaluation, prior to identifying a specific gorilla to buy into".

perhaps its a good process to go thru the way u describe it, before arriving at a choice the way i describe it. (thats what the pondering over the weekend is for :-)

Also, I believe CAP & GAP for Gorillas that are not yet on Main Street is pretty hard to quantify - therein lies the risk-factor :-) I certainly would be keen on understanding the Fool CAP/GAP quantification methodology.
