Thank you, Peter. My husband, unfortunately, doesn't have a nice protective contract with the company. We can be let go, laid off, have our salary reduced while others strike for more, worked 70 hours a week, with no raises or bonuses, and all without apology or recourse. I think management needs a union to protect itself against unions. Hmm-I just saw your profile. Are you a pilot? OOOOps....really, some of our best friends are pilots, honest. I'm just glad it's over and hope management will try to figure out where they've gone wrong. (Was that diplomatic enough?)
What you should be is a father! You are so right about the early years! The only childrearing advice I ever give is don't toilet train and read to your child every night without fail. We have two wonderful-so far-kids so this simple theory obviously works. 8-)
As for human development courses...what I believe schools are offering now is some sort of reality check course on what actually having a baby means in your life-not what a lousy parent you,a 16 year old, will make or what a child needs beyond feeding and changing. I see the boys carrying a baby doll out of the school sometimes. I think they try wearing weight belts, as if pregnancy had anything to do with raising kids. They probably talk about how it interferes with a season of cheerleading or cuts your dating time in half. I'm pretty cynical about all this, can you tell? Time for more coffee. |
