Aus and Thread, the correct decision for Kodak (especially now) would be to buy SNDK common stock or arrange to buy a private placement of convertible preferred. This last strategy is what Warren Buffett did when the shares of Salomon (the investment firm) were way down, and he also used the same strategy when Berkshire Hathaway, the company he runs, bought Champion International and US Air.

Kodak recently has had huge management turnover. They have several new people in top managment, and it looks like Carp, who replaces Fisher, is showing that he is his own man. They also suffered a recent setback when one of their top people in China died suddenly of a heart attack a few weeks ago (my wife and I attended the funeral). It's just possible that Kodak is now looking to increase its foothold in digital, but to do so will require having some claim on the profits from digital "film."

We have so many Kodak people living in this area (at least during the summer), including Carp, that I will keep my eyes and ears open and advise the thread of any news. Art
