you're actually not that far from one another. You both believe that the slide in the market will create opportunities for companies to bring in (or maintain current) talent. The issue is a risk/reward issue. While there may be greater reward with SCMR there is still a greater risk since it's a smaller company competing in a narrower market than a CSCO. With CSCO there is less risk and perhaps less reward...

So while you may make millions on SCMR stock you may also be left with nothing. With CSCO you're nearly certain to make a few bucks and from what I see probably get a double...and literally no chance of ending up with nothing.
