I couldn't more agree. Unfortunately, the U.S. is becoming a country without standards or culture. The American people feel like they are taking a back seat to everyone else.

That's probably one of the reasons that Americans are not supporting Miami Cuban's efforts to save Elian from a nasty fate at Castro's hands, in Cuba.

The Miami Cubans have set up a foreign sub-culture/sub-nation within our borders. I feel this because I live down here. I spend a lot of time not understanding the language, especially in restaurants and stores. Newer immigrants from Cuba seem to have brought with them the dog-eat-dog mentality that they have learned under Castro.

The U.S. government should stay out of this. This should be an issue between the Cuban freedom fighters, in Miami, and Castro. IMHO, the best solution would be an exchange. Elian would return to Cuba with his father, if Castro would resign from office and guarantee that he would face a trial for crimes against humanity.
