From Barron's-We also feel constrained to confide that this coming Monday doesn't shape up as a particularly happy day. Mutual-fund shareholders will get a chance to take full measure of the havoc wreaked on their holdings, and not a few are apt to seek redemption. Day traders -- those at least who are not queuing up for jobs at McDonald's -- will be digesting the bad news on their portfolios and on their margin accounts. Hedge-fund managers, between calls from anxious limited partners, will be wondering why they neglected to hedge. And short sellers, on temporary leave from Hades, will dream what might have been had they only been able to remain among the living.
