Guy, I am intrigued of exactly how the AcerBasic will work and how it will
impact Zip disk sales. Do you know if Acer will show this $500 PC
this week at the NY PC show? I hope someone can check on this.

I assumed that since the AcerBasic has no harddisk, 1.44 FD, or CDROM,
it must reply on software distribution on Zip disks. So one would boot up
to Windows 3.1, then switch Zip disks to run different programs - like games,
educational programs, etc. (think of it as a PC/Network box/Genesis/Nintendo
combo). Someone then must be setup to distribute software on Zip disks. I am
sure there are hundreds of willing and able entrepreneurs out there who will
give this good considerations.

I agree that CDROM will probably remain the main software distribution media
for a while. On the other hand, if folks like myself have a choice, I will choose Zip
disks over CDROM - even if I have to pay $5 extra for it.

It's just so much easier to put a Zip disk in your pocket or let it lay around.
Beside being too slow, I find that CDROM requires too much caring.
Also it's difficult to teach young children how to properly handle CD-ROM.
