Skeeter, thanks for the adjective, I always like to describe my species as "homo ignoramus" rather than "sapiens", for the simple reason that I adhere to the old Greek tenet "All I know is that I don't know", your short version is quite befitting.
Some times, what in your wisdom you always knew to be right, as you say, "for ages", will keep you in the poor house (keep buying puts on MU rather than waiting for the right "stupid" time). Many of the RMBS bears were mauled on its run to $470, not to be there at the bear's party here.
So, I consider my ignorance a stroke of fate, but it keeps me, most of the time, on the right side of the trend. Or to paraphrase: "Blessed is the ignorant, he does not even know how stupid he is".
