The last gold stock I made any money on was ARP. Anyone familiar with junior miners knows this one. They discovered an elephant deposit in Argentina (Veladero) and got bought out by Homestake after their JV partner Barrick failed to cough up the cash to win the bidding war (Jan 1999). That deposit - Veladero now stands at 7.8 million ounces gold, 147 million ounces silver and is still an infant in terms of exploration. Barrick's Pascua is roughly 5 km to the west. Pascua is emerging as the lowest cost producer in the world at US$60 per ounce. The deposit continues to grow from 14 million ounces in 98 to 17.1 million ounces in 99. The potential of both these deposits is still unfolding as exploration continues. IMA Exploration Inc. (IMR.CDNX) has one of the biggest land positions in this area. They are currently drilling with their JV partner Barrick about 5.5 km to the east of the Veladero deposit (same elevation and on trend with Veladero). Barrick is financing the program and is the operator. They know the geology very well and know where to look. IMR is the only precious metal explorer I own. Their chances are very good for discovering an elephant. If they come up with a good hole in this program there will be instant recognition of the discovery potential. That is a certainty. With under 10 million shares out and trading under $1 this stock has lots of room to move up through the spec stages. imaexploration.com I do also own DNI (Dumont)who are currently drilling a PGM target north of Sudbury but I own them for the property bordering TWG diamond discovery.
