the split will be voted next week and be effective the week after. it will not be canceled imo - mgmt would be crazy to send out such a bearish signal in this painful market, it would be mere capitulation...

earnings should be out on may 11th

i'm lucky not to be hurt by the crash for now and see it as a tremendous buying opportunity. in the first nasdaq "crash" two weeks ago there was a steep panic sell-off and rebound of several points at a certain point in the afternoon. i haven't seen a panic swing yet this week. nasdaq has been sliding, sliding and sliding with CPI numbers whiping out the rebound due last friday taking the whole market into crash territory. the people i spoke to yesterday over here in belgium are not in panic (yet?)(several of them already have buy orders out in the market on lhsp at 95$). Europe is a dominantly buy and hold market where margin buying is an almost non-existing phenomenon. i'm trying to gauge the $$$ and psychological damage in the US though. Is the crash depressing the people in the street in the us ? is it hitting the average consumer ? more margin calls ahead ?

i am also aware of the technical problem with the nasdaq chart lacking a good support in the current 3300-3500 zone. the first support is the psychological 3000 barrier and after that it is the 2800 zone which should hold without further damaging news.

economic fundamentals do still look very good imo. there is nothing out there to be really worried about but the market questioning itself. there is no reason to believe in a full collapse scenario with already a lot of cash by the sidelines eagerly waiting to get back in at what it guesses to be the rockbottom.

greetings
